SCUBA (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) Diving

Scuba tanks contain specialized breathing gas mixtures to enable safe underwater breathing.

Common gas mixtures include:

• Compressed Air (21% O₂, 78% N₂) – Standard recreational diving gas.

• Nitrox (Enriched Air, 32–40% O₂) – Reduces nitrogen absorption, allowing for longer dive times.

• Heliox (Helium + Oxygen, no Nitrogen) – Used for deep diving to prevent nitrogen narcosis.

• Trimix (Helium + Oxygen + Nitrogen) – Used in technical diving to reduce oxygen toxicity and nitrogen narcosis.
